About Broadview

About Us

At Broadview Church we seek to be a place where anyone and everyone would feel that they were part of a family, a true community where they find love, acceptance and forgiveness. Our desire is that those who mourn and need comfort, those who are weary and need rest, those who are friendless and need friendship, those who pray, and those who do not – but ought, those who sin and need a Saviour, and whosoever will would find that our doors and hearts are open wide to extend to them God's Grace, Mercy and Love.

It is our desire that everyone would be accepted wherever they are on their spiritual journey, and would be challenged and encouraged to become all that God created them to be.

Our Mission

To glorify God by bringing people into a growing relationship with God and others as obedient followers of Christ.

Our History

Broadview Church first met in the 1950s in a home downtown on the Trans Canada Highway. It began as an independently run Sunday School before gospel services for adults were added in November, 1954. By 1957, it had become affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada and became known as the Evangelical Free Church of Salmon Arm with Alf Pohl serving as pastor.

When the church outgrew these humble beginnings, it made plans for its first building project. A new facility was built on Okanagan Avenue. By the mid-70s, the church was again in need of a larger building. Plans were made for a second building project. The church purchased two and a half acres of property at 350 30 Street NE and built on the current address.

The church continues to meet at that location.  More property was purchased and the building has again been expanded.  A building project in 1997 made it possible for the church to lease space to King's Christian School.  They use the classrooms during weekdays.  Evenings and weekends the space is busy with the various ministries of the church.  The building was named "The Gathering Place" with the intent of being a place that could serve the larger community through rentals and to offer a place for larger community gatherings.

Pastor Dave Penner, the current lead pastor, has served the church in that role since 1982.  In those years the church has been blessed with a great leadership team of Ministry Staff and Lay Leaders and continues to desire to serve the community and world in a holistic way. We want to be known as a church that is seeking to transform culture as we communicate the Gospel of Christ in action and in word.
